(Fanwood, NJ) — Fanwood’s Halloween Parade kicked off Friday night at the Fanwood Memorial Library, filling the streets downtown and LaGrande Park with cartoon and movie characters as well as other creative costumes.
The Fanwood Recreation Commission organized the event, which included a glow in the dark light stick giveaway. The parade started at the Fanwood Memorial Library and proceeded to LaGrande Park, escorted by the police and fire departments and rescue squad

The parade was led by the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Marching Band Drum Line. Mayor Colleen Mahr welcomed everyone prior to the start of the parade. Councilwomen Patricia Walsh and Berry were also on hand.
A costume contest followed the parade at LaGrande Park and was organized by age group. Halloween music including The Monster Mash was played during the costume parade. A Jack O’Lantern contest also took place. Cider donuts, apple cider, coffee and garlic knots were served by Recreation Commissioners.
