Jazz pianists, singer-songwriters and indie rock bands will take the stage as the Fanwood Performance Series presents its fall season of concerts at the Carriage House.

On Sept. 12, the James Austin Jr. Trio will perform its program of “Songs in the Key of Wonder and More.” It’s a mix of Stevie Wonder tunes and jazz standards arranged by Austin, a New York-based pianist and bandleader. Opening the show will be composer and pianist Ellie Lee, who works in a variety of styles including jazz, classical, pop, R&B/soul and gospel.

The Oct. 10 show features singer-songwriter Tracy Colletto with her songs of personal perseverance and memorable journeys. The Union County native, now based in Philadelphia, has performed up and down the East Coast. Sharing the bill will be The Naked Sun, a Philadelphia band that blends indie, classic rock and Americana styles into what it calls “honest rock.”

The season concludes Nov. 14 with locally based acoustic-rock trio Strikes and Gutters, recently formed by Dave Handler, Evan Siegel and Brian Celardo – close friends who have been making music together for the last 10 years. This show will also feature New York singer-songwriter Scott Krokoff, who weaves elements of folk-rock and country-pop into confessional and compelling Americana.

All shows start at 7 p.m. at the Kuran Cultural Arts Center (a.k.a. the Carriage House), on Watson Road just west of Martine Avenue, next to Fanwood Borough Hall. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors – cash at the door. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by emailing fanwoodperformance@gmail.com.

The Fanwood Performance Series is a presentation of Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Fanwood Borough Cultural Arts Council. It is made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners.
