The Fanwood Performance Series will continue its spring season on Saturday, May 10, with acclaimed blues-rock guitarist Debra Devi and her band, plus singer-songwriter Cassidy Rain.

Debra Devi has been recognized by American Blues Scene as one of “today’s top female blues/rock guitarists.” New Jersey Stage compared Devi to “a cross between Bonnie Raitt, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar.” She and her Jersey City-based band released a live-in-studio EP in 2022 that reached the top five in the Relix/Jambands.com Radio Chart. Devi is also the author of “The Language of the Blues,” which won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for Outstanding Book on Music.

Cassidy Rain is the lead singer of The Outcrops, a New Jersey band that played in the Fanwood Performance Series in 2023. A lover of the blues, folk music and rock’n’roll, she’s also a songwriter and performs solo with her acoustic guitar.

Show time is 7 p.m. at the Kuran Cultural Arts Center (a.k.a. the Carriage House), on Watson Road just west of Martine Avenue, next to Fanwood Borough Hall. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors – cash at the door. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by emailing fanwoodperformance@gmail.com.

The Fanwood Performance Series is a presentation of Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Fanwood Borough Cultural Arts Council. It is made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners.

The spring season concludes with a show on June 14. Artists previously announced for that show have had to withdraw; their replacements will be announced soon. The series will then take a summer break and return in the fall.
