As part of Foodstock 2019, the Borough of Fanwood is collecting food to donate to food banks here in our own community. We are challenging the Borough of Garwood to see which town can collect the most food. Residents can drop off bags of non-perishable food items to Fanwood Borough Hall or the Fanwood Library any time between Labor Day and Halloween.  A list of ideas is below:

  • Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Other Thanksgiving Items
  • Canned fruit (preferred items in light syrup or natural juice)
  • Canned soups, vegetables & beans (prefer low sodium options)
  • Tuna fish (prefer packed in water)
  • Cereals (prefer items less than 12g of sugar per serving)
  • Coffee, tea and sips
  • Baked beans and other canned vegetables
  • Any kind of pasta, rice, Macaroni and cheese
  • Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and vegetable cooking oil
  • Napkins, toilet paper, paper towels and food storage bags
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemon pepper, basil, oregano, etc
  • Small individual portions of apple sauce, pudding, snacks and juices

Foodstock is an annual food drive committed to the needs of community members struggling to put food on their tables. Visit FoodStockNJ.org for more information on the organization. Let’s get this #FoodStockChallenge started!

Fanwood Foodstock Challenge vs. Garwood continues, with Borough Administrator Eleanor McGovern handing over another 155 pounds of generously donated food!  Foodstock continues until our culminating event at the Fanwood Halloween party at LaGrande Park at 6:30 on 10/31.
