In June, Elizabethtown Gas was making the final road restoration improvements for their “Terrill Road” project which included either full-width or half-width paving of the following streets:
Belvidere Ave | Helen St |
Burns Way | Herbert Ave |
Carsam Street | MacDermott Pl |
Chetwood Terrace | Marian Ave |
Coriell Ave | Robin Rd |
Cray Terrace | 2nd St |
Crest Lane | Vinton Circle |
It is expected that late in the summer, Elizabethtown Gas will be doing their final road restoration for their “Park Ave” Project that includes work in Scotch Plains and Fanwood. The final restoration will also include full- or half-width paving of the following streets:
Arlene Ct | Montrose Ave |
Birch St | Oakwood Ct |
Deborah Way | Pleasant Ave |
Estelle Ln | Portland Ave |
Forest Rd, Portland to Midway | St. Johns Pl |
Graybar Terrace | Woodland Ave |
Hendricks St | Woodruff Pl |
Elizabethtown Gas has also started their gas main and service upgrades for their “Midway Ave and N. Martine Ave” Project which includes the following streets:
Cottage Way | Nichols Ct |
Fanwood Pl | North Ave, Midway to Hunter |
Farley Ave | Paterson Rd, Hunter to Midway |
Forest Ave, from Midway to North Ave | Russell Rd, Midway to North |
Ginder Place | Stewart Pl |
Hunter Ave | Tillotson Rd, Midway to North |
N. Martine Ave, South Ave to Midway | Watson Rd |
Mary Lane | Willoughby Rd |
Midway Ave, various locations |
Paving of the majority of these roads will likely not be done until the spring of 2019, when the project will have been completed and settled. However, the Borough is planning on paving North Avenue separately from Terrill Road to Midway Ave. This will be mostly funded by Elizabethtown Gas and NJ American Water for the work they have been performing.
The Borough’s projects for this year are:
Madison Avenue – Expected to start in Late August or September.
Paterson Road, Terrill Rd to Hunter Ave – Expected to start in September
At the completion of the paving of the “Terrill Rd” and “Park Ave” projects the Borough will be assessing the streets in the neighborhood to assess the needs and do additional paving on the streets in the poorest condition. Depending on the needs and availability of funds, the Borough will be doing a separate paving project to address the roads in poorest condition.
