The Department of Environmental Protection has placed 14 counties, including Union, under a drought warning due to ongoing precipitation deficits and deteriorating water-supply conditions, particularly storage levels in reservoirs. Rainfall is approximately 13 inches below normal. Here are a few conservation tips to consider:
Cease lawn watering and washing of cars.
Fix any in home leaks, including leaking faucets, shower heads, and toilets.
Do not let faucets run when brushing your teeth or washing the dishes.
Use a rain barrel to capture water from a downspout to use later for watering gardens and plants.
Run washing machines and dishwashers only when they are full.
