The 2nd Annual Rockin’ for Autism Fair unfolded under an overcast sky in Fanwood’s LaGrande Park on Saturday, April 29, on soggy fields left by an early morning storm. Vendors, food stands, exhibitors and fun stops for kids highlighted the event, the brain child of Mallory Banks, 15, who has been raising money for Autism NJ in the name of her brother Ethan for years. Last year’s event raised $10,000. We’re awaiting this year’s tally. The event also featured the launch of the 2017 Scotch Plains-Fanwood Youth Baseball Association season, with first pitches being thrown by Fanwood Councilman Russ Huegel, Scotch Plains Mayor Al Smith and Mallory Banks. Thanks to the Banks family, the Fanwood Dept. of Public Works, Fanwood Recreation Commission, Mayor Mahr and the Borough Council for their support in making this event a reality for a second consecutive year.
