The Fanwood Performance Series concludes its spring season on Saturday, June 14, with an evening of folk and pop music featuring Pete Muller & The Kindred Souls and Hope Dunbar.
Pete Muller & The Kindred Souls mix folk intimacy, classic pop charm, jazz sophistication and a touch of soul with heartfelt storytelling and masterful musicianship. With Andy Mac driving the rhythm on drums and Martha McDonnell’s soaring fiddle adding rich melodies, the band delivers dynamic, emotionally resonant performances.
Singer-songwriter Hope Dunbar is a Californian turned Midwesterner now living in Hopewell Township, N.J. Her Americana, folk, country musical blend and her unforgettable voice reflect honest vulnerability and a desire to connect with the beauty of the ordinary. Dunbar’s new album, “Happily Ever Elsewhere,” speaks to the unexpected nature of these past five years and finding oneself in a very different place than what had been planned.
Show time is 7 p.m. at the Kuran Cultural Arts Center (a.k.a. the Carriage House), on Watson Road just west of Martine Avenue, next to Fanwood Borough Hall. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors – cash at the door. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by emailing fanwoodperformance@gmail.com.
The Fanwood Performance Series is a presentation of Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Fanwood Borough Cultural Arts Council. It is made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners.
After a summer break, the series will return in the fall. Music lovers can find more information and updates at the series website (https://fanwoodperformanceseries.org) and on its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FanwoodPerformanceSeries).
