As a reminder to all Fanwood residents, dog and cat license registrations and renewals are now past due. All dogs and cats in the borough are required to be licensed each year as proof they have valid rabies vaccinations. Licenses may be obtained in person at the office of the Municipal Clerk at the Fanwood Borough Hall, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.
License fees, including the $2 late fee, are $12 per pet and $15 per un-neutered pet. A current rabies vaccination certificate showing an expiration date beyond November 2024 is required. Failure to license your animal by January 31 results in a late fee of $2 per month to a maximum of $10. If you no longer have a dog or cat, please call (908) 322-8236 so that the borough can remove your animal from the system. You may download the license application here. You may download and fill out the application, then mail it with a check and a copy of a valid rabies certificate to Borough Hall, 75 N. Martine Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023, Attn: Pet License.
Municipal law requires that all cats over the age of four months be licensed as a rabies control measure. Making sure your pet has its current license attached to its collar is your best insurance of having your pet returned to you in case they become lost or get out of your yard. By paying to properly ID your dog or cat, you are also helping to keep community members, as well as dogs and cats in your community, safe from disease.
