The annual Fanny Wood Day street fair drew families from across the region for a day of live music, eclectic food, contests, kiddie rides and, for the first time, an exhibition of professional wrestling in an arena erected right on South Avenue.
A color guard made up of Boy Scouts from Troop 33 brought the flag to the stage for the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. Then Mayor Colleen Mahr welcomed visitors from the main stage at Martine and South Avenues accompanied by members of the Borough Council, Police Director Mike Bramhall and event announcer, Recreation Commissioner Bruce Zakarin.
Live music occurred on two stages, one provided by the Union County Commissioners featuring local bands and the other featuring young student musicians and vocalists.
The WrestlePro exhibition took place on an arena erected on South Avenue near the post office. An excited audience were delighted by the contests performed live by wrestlers in various costumes with real body slams, snarls and bodies tossed out of the ring. Before the show, the performers signed autographs and posed for photos with anyone who asked including Mayor Mahr and members of Borough Council.
