The Borough has been in contact with PSEG as well as the Governor’s Office to relay the magnitude of what’s happened in Fanwood. A number of homes suffered extensive damage. The Construction Official went to all damaged properties and either posted notices or gave directions to the affected homeowners. There is significant damage to the circuits leading to the PSEG substation.

Terrill Rd. (between Kempshall and Cray)

Chetwood Terr. (open to residents but not through traffic)

Hunter Ave. (between Midway and Paterson)

Russell Rd. (between North and Watson)

Forest Rd. (between Midway and Watson)

Shady Ln. (between Hetfield and Highview) 

Willoughby Rd. (between Paterson and Midway).

The traffic light at South/Hetfield is still out and has 4-way stop sign. All traffic lights on Martine Avenue are operating on generator power.

PSEG is reporting that 1,481 properties in Fanwood remain without power. The latest estimated time of restoration is July 6 at 11:00pm. View current outage data here. To report a downed tree, call the Police non-emergency line (908) 322-5000. Please note that due high call volume the non-emergency line may be busy.

Forest Road Park building will close at 9:00pm this evening and will be open from 9:00am – 9:00pm on Sunday, July 5 as a cooling and charging center. Overnight, residents can use the Carriage House as a cooling center. If the door is locked, please call the Police non-emergency line (908) 322-5000. Evangel Church in Scotch Plains, located at 1251 Terrill Road, will be opening their facility as a cooling station to Fanwood residents.

Thank you to our Police, Fire, Public Works and Construction departments for all they have done since the storm struck yesterday evening. Our crews were out all night and day and will continue to support restoration efforts.
