Although the weather caused the annual Memorial Day parade to be cancelled, it held off long enough for officials from Fanwood and Scotch Plains to honor our fallen service men and women at the Fanwood Memorial Library.

Mayor Colleen Mahr spoke of how important it is to celebrate and honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. She introduced Grand Marshals Edward Miller and Joe Nagy, World War II veterans, as well as a special honoring for the late Alan Ebersole, who would have been the third Grand Marshal. Members of the Borough Council, police department, fire and rescue squad, Cub Scouts, local veterans and the VFW chapter, Scotch Plains Mayor Al Smith and Deputy Mayor Llwellyn Jones joined together for the laying of the wreaths in front of the Fanwood War Memorial in front of the Fanwood Memorial Library.
