Mayor Colleen Mahr joined developers from Landmark Companies in breaking ground for the new retail and residential project called SOHO at Fanwood Station, located at the corner of South Avenue and First Street.

SOHO will feature about 5,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor with 58 apartments and resident amenities that include a fitness room and an outdoor courtyard. Nine apartments will be designated as affordable units. Parking will be available at ground level and in an underground garage. Estimated completion will be sometime in the fall of 2023.

“We’ve raised the bar again here in Fanwood,” remarked Mayor Mahr after the groundbreaking. “This is a tremendously well-designed building and will be a gorgeous addition to Downtown Fanwood.”Mayor Mahr was joined by Borough Council President Anthony Carter and Fanwood Development Director Liz Jeffery.

SOHO stands on the site once occupied by a building housing medical offices and the former Intensive Therapeutics. It is being developed by Landmark Companies which developed the very successful Station Square townhomes at 2nd Street and LaGrande Avenue. The site contractor is Boyce Construction. Financing is provided by TriState Capital Bank.

“We look forward to another successful collaboration with the Borough and are committed to making SOHO  a truly spectacular addition to Fanwood’s downtown,” said Matt Leshetz, Vice President of Construction and Development for Landmark Companies.

“I would like to thank Landmark Companies for their continued investment in Fanwood and thank all  of you here this morning for the extraordinary effort put forth on this project,” said Mayor Mahr.
