Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr recently met with resident Joan Rekemeier and her son Cole Rekemeier, to celebrate Joan’s good health and excellent hearing!
Joan is the first patient in the New York metropolitan area to receive an innovative surgical implant for conductive hearing loss and single-sided deafness called BONEBRIDGE.
After experiencing sudden hearing loss in 2015 Joan was resigned to living with irreparable hearing loss. But working with a team from Summit Medical Group, Joan took a leap of faith and is delighted with the outcome! Rekemeier said, “I can’t stress enough how much of an improvement it is to be able to clearly hear words. Without the device, everything is garbled and distorted.”
This advancement represents an entirely new approach to bone conduction hearing technology, and is cleared for use in conductive and mixed hearing losses as well as single-sided deafness for candidates age 12 and older.
