The Borough of Fanwood is fortunate to have been awarded two NJDOT grants in the amounts of $415,000 and $495,000 to continue upgrading our roadways. We were awarded an additional grant of $40,000 from the Union County Infrastructure Trust.
Using these grants and local funding, this year’s road improvement program includes the reconstruction of Glenwood Road, from Midway Avenue to approximately 58 Glenwood Road; Rainier Road; and Tillotson Road from Westfield Road to the dead end. The work will include drainage improvements, repairs of the shifted or broken curbing and full-depth asphalt replacement within the limits. The Borough will also be cleaning, videoing and lining of the sewers within these limits as well as on Belvidere Avenue between Martine Avenue and 2nd Street to address infiltration issues.
In addition to the paving, the Borough will install curbing on Corielle Avenue in the sections where no curbing exists. In line with our Complete Streets Policy, we will also extend the currently existing sidewalk on Corielle Avenue to Helen Street to provide a safe walking route from Martine Avenue to Helen Street.
