The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning until 8pm Wednesday, July 10, 2024 for our region. This means the combination of temperatures in the 90s plus high humidity will create “feels like” temperatures of 100 degrees or more.
We urge everyone to check in on seniors and other vulnerable individuals to make sure they stay cool. Take it easy during outdoor activities taking frequent breaks for shade and water.
Anyone in need of cooling may call Fanwood Police at the non-emergency number, 908-322-5000, and they will arrange for you to go to our cooling facility at the Carriage House.
Our public health officials at the Westfield Regional Health Department have this information on being vigilant for signs of heat stroke and how to prevent it. Click hear for information.
