As a reminder to all Fanwood residents, dog and cat license registrations and renewals are due by January 31.

You can apply for a license starting January 2nd in person at the Municipal Clerk’s office at Fanwood Borough Hall, 75 North Martine Avenue, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We accept cash and checks only. Alternatively, you can mail in your application. You may download and fill out the application here, then mail it with a check and a copy of a valid rabies certificate to Borough Hall, 75 N. Martine Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023, Attn: Pet License

Please make sure you submit all the required documents and payment so that your pet is licensed by the due date of January 31, 2025.

To renew your pet license, you will need:

•           A filled-out application form

•           A copy of your pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate

•           A check made out to the Borough of Fanwood for the appropriate fee:

o          $10 for spayed/neutered pets

o          $15 for unaltered pets

Rabies vaccinations are typically valid for three years, so please check when your pet is due to get a new one. In accordance with NJ State regulations, the vaccination must be valid for at least 10 months of the year in which the license is issued. If your pet’s rabies vaccination is set to expire before November 1, 2025, please consult your veterinarian about getting an early booster shot. Late fees will begin to accrue after January 31, 2025. A $2.00 late fee will apply each month, up to a maximum of $10 in late fees. (Newly registered pets are not subject to late fees.)

Please feel free to contact Courtney Agnello, Deputy Borough Clerk at 908 322 8236 x123 or by email at cagnello@fanwoodnj.org with any questions. You may also visit our website for more information and a printable application form: Pets and Animal Control.
