At the Council Meeting on Monday, March 19th, local organizations and residents were recognized for their dedication and hard work in Fanwood.
Mayor Colleen Mahr presented a proclamation for Girl Scout Week to girls from Troops 40370 and 40777, along with Julie Murphy, a member of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Girl Scout Service Team, at Monday’s Fanwood Council meeting. There are almost 800 Girl Scouts in Fanwood-Scotch Plains. The organization was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, GA. Nationwide, there are 1.8 million girls and 800,000 volunteer adults involved in Girl Scouts. To learn more about the organization and its mission, visit www.girlscouts.org.
Michael Kelly, a member of the Fanwood Recreation Commission, was named Volunteer of the Month at Monday’s Borough Council meeting. Mayor Colleen Mahr expressed appreciation on behalf of the Council for Mike’s tireless service to the community for creating and promoting Fanwood’s vibrant Recreation programs.
