(Fanwood, NJ) – The Borough Council passed several resolutions at its monthly work session meeting on Monday, March 3rd. The council also agreed to move the March regular monthly council meeting to Tuesday, March 18th at 7 p.m.

The following resolutions were passed:

A resolution to enter into a contract with Buildingstars Operations, Inc. to provide the cleaning and janitorial services for an amount not to exceed $35,064.

A resolution to enter into a contract with Piccola’s Landscaping, LLC, 14 Cray Terrace, Fanwood, NJ to provide municipal landscaping maintenance services to the borough for a total amount not to exceed $13,500 and landscape seasonal planting services for a total amount not to exceed $16,000, for a total amount of $29,500.

A resolution to enter into a shared services agreement with the Plainfield Area Regional Sewer Authority (PARSA) for a multi-year program to clean the borough’s sewerage lines for an amount of $18,859.40 per year to a period ending on March 31, 2034.

Borough Administrator Jesse Moehlman said PARSA completed the cleaning of the lines, but now wants to televise the lines. He said PARSA would charge double for a five-year agreement, but they kept the price the same under the 10-year agreement.

Councilwoman Eric McElroy Barker said the police department is close to hiring a new police officer to replace a retiring officer.

Councilman Jeff Banks announced that this year’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at Forest Road Park. He said families should arrive on time as the hunt goes fast.

Resident Michael Lewis inquired about his previous comment on placing flashing signs at the intersection of Trenton and Martine Avenues. Council President Patricia Walsh said Lieutenant Dan Kranz told her that the borough has crossing guards and police officers at the intersection and he would look into the flashing signs.

Moehlman said Union County approval would likely be required as Martine Avenue is a county road.

Councilwoman Walsh said the North Avenue Train Station parking lot will be closed for repaving from 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6th, until 3 p.m. on Friday, March 7th. Permit holders may park at the Southside Train Station lot or along North Avenue.
