Clean Community Day has become a rite of spring in Fanwood. Not only does it generate community spirit and volunteerism, but also it makes a tangible contribution to the community by removing tons of litter. This event provides an instructive experience for participating children on the importance of recycling and keeping their environment clean. This year, volunteers met at the Millennium Clock at the south side parking lot of the train station before heading out all over the community to participate in this year’s Earth Day.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who made it out this year to help clean up Fanwood! Special thanks to the Department of Public Works for providing the equipment, the Union County Recycling Coordinator for providing children with some “goodies” and to Fanwood Bagel & Deli and Nick’s Pizza & Deli for providing food for our volunteers!
We had such a great group of volunteers come out this year, including those from the Fanwood Environmental Commission, Fanwood DPW, Lions Club, the Dhammakaya Temple, Friends of the Library and others!
