The New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) has issued an important update regarding federal programs administered by the Division of Family Development following the federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

New Jersey has been notified by the federal government that if the shutdown continues, November 2025 SNAP benefits will not be available on November 1.

  • SNAP benefits already loaded on your Families First EBT card before October 31, 2025 will remain available for use after November 1.
  • Before shopping, please check your account at NJFamiliesFirst.com or call 1-800-997-3333 to confirm your available balance.
  • You may receive eligibility notices or see November benefits listed in your MyNJHelps account; however, if the federal shutdown continues, those benefits will not be posted to your EBT card on time.
  • Because the delay is due to the federal shutdown, fair hearings will not be scheduled for this issue.
  • SNAP applications and recertifications will continue to be processed. Please submit all requested documentation to ensure benefits are available once federal funding resumes.

Work First New Jersey (WFNJ)

WFNJ benefits are expected to be available on time.

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)

At this time, CCAP benefit payments will not be interrupted, and there will be no impact to CCAP families or providers.

Child Support

No disruptions are anticipated for the collection or disbursement of child support payments or general child support operations.
