Singer-songwriters Rachael Sage, Danni Nicholls in concert Oct. 11 at Fanwood’s Carriage House
From New York and from England-via-Nashville, two critically acclaimed musical artists are bringing their original music to the Fanwood Performance Series on Oct. 11.
Rachael Sage is a soulful vocalist, innovative multi-instrumentalist and award-winning singer/songwriter/producer from NYC who has earned a loyal international following for her dynamic piano playing, delicate guitar work, and improvisational audience interaction. A six-time Independent Music Award winner, Sage has toured with an eclectic list of artists including Howard Jones, Beth Hart, Ani DiFranco, and Grammy winners Shawn Colvin and Judy Collins. American Songwriter described Sage as “one of the most compelling and creative singers and songwriters of the modern era.” This show will mark the release of Sage’s latest album, “Canopy.”
Danni Nicholls is a “UK Americana” artist who has built a loyal fan base with her powerful, arresting voice and her dynamically poetic original songs. Hailing from Bedford, England, Nicholls grew up listening to American roots music from her Anglo-Indian grandmother’s record collection. She dreamed of visiting Nashville, and got the chance when she was invited to record with Nashville musician and producer Chris Donohue. She now splits her time between the two countries. Called “an artist full of wisdom and soul” by Maverick Magazine, she has performed around the world at events and festivals such as Cambridge Folk in the U.K. and Americanafest in Nashville.
The show starts at 7 p.m. in the cozy listening room of Fanwood’s Kuran Cultural Arts Center (a.k.a. the Carriage House), at 135 Watson Road, just west of Martine Avenue on the grounds of Borough Hall. The suggested donation for admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors – cash at the door. Reservations are strongly recommended to ensure seating. RSVP by emailing fanwoodperformance@gmail.com with name, show date and number of seats requested.
The Fanwood Performance Series is a presentation of Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Fanwood Borough Cultural Arts Council. It is made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of County Commissioners.
