On or about Monday, August 19th, PSE&G crews and contractors will begin tree trimming along South Avenue, between Hetfield Avenue and Terrill Road, and along PSE&G’s Transmission Right-of-Way from Terrill Road to 2nd Street in Scotch Plains. Tree trimming is expected to take about a week-and-a-half, depending on the weather. PSE&G’s Vegetation Management Department or one of their contractors will contact property owners who own trees impacted by the project.
Work will than commence on the installation of taller, sturdier utility poles and running new electric wires along existing pole lines as well as creating new pole lines in some areas. The utility does not expect this project to cause any service interruptions. Work is expected to occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and continue intermittently through November 2024. Weekend work may occur if necessary. Schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
The utility company will work with the Fanwood Police Department on any traffic and parking adjustments to minimize inconvenience and ensure a safe environment for the public and work crews. The public is asked to avoid going near construction work zones. For questions, please call the PSE&G Project Hotline at 1-877-678-5784.
