It’s back to school starting September 7th and that means our drivers need to be extra vigilant. The Fanwood Police Department reminds us of these important points:

Crossing Guards are at various intersections in town. Please be patient as their job is to ensure pedestrians’ safety and not direct traffic. Please be vigilant when they are in crosswalks. Students, please cross streets at designated crosswalks!

Police officers will be in school zones to enforce various motor vehicle laws. Speeding, parking violations, and other issues will be strictly enforced.

For those dropping off at the High School: You might save time by dropping students off a few blocks away from the school and avoiding Westfield Road. Please do so safely and without obstructing traffic.

For students parking near the high school: Sections of roads around the high school are for residents and permit holders ONLY. If you are a high school student and need a parking permit, please see the main office. Affected streets have signs approximately every 100 feet.

For those dropping off on Madison Avenue near Nettingham Middle School: Police will enforce violations of the “No Stopping, No Standing” ordinance.

We wish all the students a successful year at all schools in the district, and please know that we are constantly trying to increase safety, enforce areas of concern, and lessen traffic congestion.”

If you have any traffic concerns, please email Traffic Unit Supervisor Sergeant Daniel Piccola at dpiccola@fanwoodnj.org.
