PUBLIC NOTICE
LEGAL AD; ORDINANCE 2023-01-R
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF FANWOOD, COUNTY OF UNION, AND STATE OF NEW JERSEY ESTABLISHING MONTHLY PERMITS FOR PARKING AT THE FANWOOD TRAIN STATION
WHEREAS, the Borough of Fanwood (“the Borough”) wishes to update the hours of permit parking in and around the Fanwood Train Station to promote commerce in its downtown area. NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Fanwood, County of Union, State of New Jersey as follows:
Chapter 280-14 Subsection B is hereby amended as follows:
B. Monthly permits.
(1) In such areas, Fanwood Parking Lots No. 1 and No. 2, stalls clearly marked, shall be available for use between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, but only to vehicles displaying a valid parking permit, for which a charge shall be made in accordance with the schedule set forth in Subsection B(2). Permits shall be sold at the Fanwood Police Department as scheduled by the Department. The permit shall be displayed and visible within the motor vehicle to be parked in the railroad parking lots, as specified in a written notice that will be provided to the permit holder at the time that the permit is issued. All permits sold shall be for the full calendar year. Reimbursement shall be made at Borough Hall for unused months. Permits shall be first offered to Fanwood residents starting on or about October 15 of the preceding year, Scotch Plains residents starting 15 days after they are first offered to Fanwood residents, and any nonresidents slatting 30 days after they are first offered to Fanwood residents. Payment shall be made to the Borough by check or money order only, and no cash will be accepted, and all monies shall be submitted to the Borough Treasurer. Permits are not transferable and cannot be duplicated.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED this section of 280-14 shall take effect as provided by law.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that this ordinance was introduced and passed upon first reading at a meeting of the governing body of the Borough of Fanwood, in the County of Union, State of New Jersey, on March 6, 2023. It will be further considered for final passage, after public hearing thereon, at a meeting of the governing body to be held at Borough Hall, Council/Court Chambers, 75 N. Martine Avenue, New Jersey, on March 20, 2023 or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard at which time and place public hearing will be held prior to final passage of said ordinance and all persons will be given the opportunity to be heard concerning the same; at any time and place to which the meeting for the further consideration of the ordinance shall be adjourned. During the week prior to and up to and including the date of such meeting copies of the full ordinance will be available at no cost and during regular business hours, at the Municipal Clerk’s office for the members of the general public who shall request the same.
