The 9th annual Fanwood 5K and Family Fun Run saw the chilliest weather anyone could remember. Wind chills around 40 degrees or below made the runners eager to get started. Dressed in superhero costumes, families started the Fun Run, launched by Councilman Tom Kranz and Recreation Commission president Joe Valente at 9 a.m., followed shortly thereafter by the main 5K race.

The winner of the 5K was Rob Lynn of Scotch Plains, dressed as Spiderman. Thanks to the Fanwood Recreation Department and their volunteers for organizing and running the race and to the volunteers of the Fanwood, Scotch Plains and Mountainside Rescue Squads and Fanwood Fire Department for standing by to keep everyone safe. And as always, thanks to Police Chief Richard Trigo and all the officers for their work at the race.
